Interesting how the mp3 incorporates this idea of the imperfect representation of universal concepts into it's structure, anticipating that the human ear won't be able to hear most of the music anyway, and therefore editing much of it out.
Unlike Plato, however, it doesn't deem this perversion as evil, shifting the power and value from the essential nature of what the mp3 represents (ie pure music) to how it's used (ie in a dirty, noisy pub).
